Gilt bronze, over 1 3/8” (1.40”) formed as an arched vine with five fruit clusters. Hinged cross pin and pin rest in excellent preservation and suitable for modern wear. At the time, garments were secured with brooches (fibula) of various forms. This brooch may have served that function, however its unusual and highly decorative form suggest that it was fashion jewelry. As such, its use would have been confined to the elite/noble class and a lady of fashion. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored and suspended on an 18” gilt sterling silver neck chain for modern wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
